The Pitch

Tiffany Krumins is from a town with one light. Thank god, there aren't two lights because it has way less of a ring to it. Tiffany is a caretaker for a kid named Gibby, who dislikes taking medicine. Tiffany created a prototype for an oral medicine dispenser in the shape of an elephant to ease the fear associated with taking medicine called Emmy The Elephant.

Tiffany entered the Shark Tank unintimidated, opening with an impromptu joke, "I can see you saved all the money for me. It's still laying there", referring to the fake stacks of cash the show kept on the sharks' desk.

Kevin O'Leary doesn't see it growing big enough to be worth his time. Robert thinks she should license it. Daymond and Kevin Harrington think it's too early in the product's lifecycle to go on the journey. Like a firing squad, four sharks go out.

Barbara changed the tone, showing interest but at a much higher than sought 55% for $50k. Tiffany's primary focus is seeing Emmy The Elephant succeed, and she values Barbara's involvement. Tiffany is not much of a negotiator and happily accepts Barbara's offer.

podcast in January 2022. Being Barbara's second investment, TIffany and Barbara were each figuring this stuff out on their own for the first time. Things like getting the injection moldings and passing medical device requirements led to some misused money, but they learned and moved on.

In season 2, episode 4, Tiffany gave an update that 75k Ava The Elephants arrived from their manufacturer in China, ready to ship out to CVS stores across the nation. They were on track for $2.5 million in sales that year.

They had about nine months from the day the filming occurred to airdate to get Ava the Elephant available for purchase. Ava the Elephant was sold in over 10,000 stores, including Walgreens and CVS, and created around $1 million in revenue.

In season 4, episode 15, we got an update that Tiffiny sold 100k units total, equating to over $1 million in sales. Tiffany launched a new product, thermometer stickers, which are more approachable temperature readers for children. Tiffany projects $1 million in sales from the sticker this year. The success of Ava The Elephant helped Tiffany financially and mentally with her recovery from thyroid cancer.

Barbara mentioned in Season 5, episode 18, that she had invested $50k, but by the time Ava The Elephant made it to market, she had put in $285k.

In season 5, episode 24, we got an update that Tiffany was cancer free. Ava The Elephant did a deal with a medical company called Health Pons, which confirmed purchase orders of $6 million. Barbara gave her share of Ava The Elephant to Health Pons in exchange for Health Pons stock. Healthpons went out of business in 2017. In season 5, episode 29 (the season finally), Ava The Elephant was briefly mentioned in the montage of season updates.

In time Tiffany lost love for the day-to-day running of the business and wanted to go back to doing creative work. 4-7 years after the air date, Tiffany and Barbara decided to license Ava The Elephant to Baby Delight and, most recently, Better Family Inc. The temperature stickers did not succeed.
