Kimberly Foley and Matthew Foley had a twist that turned retail shopping into a fun event rather than a task. Wee Can Shop caters to children and encourages them to shop for gifts for others.
Like 90% of the world, Kimberly hasn't found a job she loves and wants to run her own business. The problem is it's tough, and most people fail and return to a steady income a 9-5 job provides.
Wee Can Shop made $12k in profit last year and has been in business for four years. This is without paying themselves. Kimberly is even trying to sell franchises.
Kimberly and Matthew have put in $120k that they got from friends, family, and small loans.
I get the passion piece but you know what I would be crying about? The fact that your not making a profit.
The idea at least has a twist and is unique. However, the reality after four years is that it is not a sustainable business. The sharks all go out.
Kimberly, I'm your only friend up here. I'm the only one telling you the truth. All this encouragement for you to go on is folly. It's a huge mistake. Somebody's got to tell you that. It's not going to be your family. It's not going to be these people cheering you on. It's me.
Kimberly parts with words that their future is great. She's in denial because the truth is too devastating to bear, so she tricks her brain into believing the most bearable version of reality. Even her brother is caught up on this "grown 100% every year" misleading stat.
