A Perfect Pear Shark Tank Pitch

Susan Knapp created a jelly company, A Perfect Pear, which does about $700k a year in revenue with a 2% projected profit this year. She is in about 650 stores and seeks money to fulfill orders she can't otherwise obtain from a bank due to the recession.

Susan has put over $800k into the business, which Kevin O'Leary quickly sidelines as irrelevant and in the past. After several offers come in, Susan steps out to think for a second.

With all the offers around 50%, there is some back and forth on that significant 1%, that determines who has a controlling say in the business but ultimately, 50% holds, and a deal is made with Kevin Harrington and Robert Herjavec.

It feels a little bit scary to give up 50% of my company but knowing that my intent is to have this be a $20 million company over the next five years, what's 50%?

— Susan Knapp

where she said Robert was going to be more hands-off and Kevin Harrington more hands-on so they modified the deal to only move forward with Kevin who helped get A Perfect Pear on the Home Shopping Network.

In season 1, episode 7, Susan Knapp gave an update that A perfect Pear was on Home Shopping Network and sold 1600 units. Susan says sales went from $8k a month before Shark Tank to $80k a month after.
