Viewsport Shark Tank Pitch

Ben Wood was in medical school when he noticed sweat patterns on his shirt while working out. Honing in on his background in chemistry, Ben dropped out of med school to create a shirt that would cause sweat patterns to reveal motivational text.

While hydrophobic coating has existed for a long time, Ben has especially focused on a formula to integrate into t-shirts, which is patent pending.

Viewport did $140k in revenue last year, 80% of which came in the previous three months. Ben wants to partner with a shark to tap into the sharks' relationships to more successfully license the formula to prominent clothing brands.

The sharks found the idea intriguing, but the product underperformed. The high valuation did not encourage the partnership Ben sought. All sharks go out.

, Viewsport has used its technology as a point of differentiating itself from other textile manufacturers. Viewsport received a $6.9 million contract to provide recruitment t-shirts for the U.S. Army through 2017. The shirts did not use sweat technology.

By 2015, Ben had developed a scalable process where he produced millions of t-shirts a year. He may add the technology into other garments like socks, swimsuits, rain jackets, and umbrellas.

In 2022 Viewsport is in business and appears to be doing well. Their website is viewsport.com
