The Pitch

Fleetwood Hicks used his background in fashion design to aid him in building his custom Bike company, Villy Custom. Villy Custom is inspired by Fleetwood's dog DeVille who is displayed on hand made hand painted badges that are attached to every bike.

Fleetwood has put $185k of his money into Villy Custom. In 2010 Villy Custom did $129k revenue operating as a retail bike store. In 2011 The Villy Custom website was live, and Fleetwood is on track to do a $250k annual revenue all online with no paid advertising. Profit will be $50k before taking a salary.

The fashionable bicycle comes at a higher price of $640 and costs Fleetwood $245 per bike. He sells one bike a day on average and seeks to grow to 10-20 bikes a day.

Every shark loves the bike, the dog, the product, and Fleetwood. While sharks get caught up on the high evaluation currently breaking even, Mark and Barbara love it and go in together, eventually sealing a deal.

Update After Shark Tank

Companies like this come a dime a dozen. Even Fleetwood Hicks' name is perfect. I was rooting so bad for Fleetwood to go on to great success, and well, he did just that!

, Villy Custom thought the website was well-prepared for air day and yet still crashed, which Mark Cuban wasn't happy about.

Mark doesn't ride bikes much, and his team handles most of the interaction with Fleetwood. Fleetwood sends a monthly email to Mark, and Mark often responds quickly when asked questions.

Barbara is personally more hands-on than Mark and has visited a few times and regularly speaks on the phone with Fleetwood.

In season 4, episode 4, Fleetwood updated us that within 24 hours of appearing on Shark Tank, Villy Custom's website had over 85k unique customers to its website. They did over $100k of sales in five weeks.

In season 5, episode 9, Barbara brought 7 of her best Shark Tank companies to her summer home in Fire Island, New York, including Fleetwood though we did not hear from him. Barbara announced the release of a Shark Tank book, including advice from all the sharks.

Villy Custom opened a store in Dallas, Texas, along with a larger manufacturing facility called the Villy Vonka Bicycle Factory. Villy Custom has almost hit $2 million in lifetime sales. They have made bikes for large brands such as Google, Chipotle, and Pepsico.

In 2022 Villy Custom's website is villycustom.com
