The Painted Pretzel Shark Tank Pitch

Raven Thomas left her career in criminal intelligence to be a stay-at-home mom with her two kids. After spending some time in the kitchen, Raven made and gave out chocolate-covered pretzels to her friends and family and, with great feedback, was encouraged to start selling what became known as The Painted Pretzel.

In the last year, The Painted Pretzel has done $75k in revenue and has just received a $64k order with $140k of orders available that she cannot fill. She also is working on a $2 million order with Sam's Club that she will have to walk away from if she doesn't get a deal.

Mark Cuban owns the Dallas Mavericks and Landmark Theaters that he wants to sell The Painted Pretzel's in and offers Raven exactly what she came in asking for, and even the other still in sharks encouraged Raven to take the deal.

I just love Mark Cuban's business savvy, but his personality is just adorable, so I'm so excited to work with him.

—Raven Thomas

with Raven Thomas, on air date, The Pained Pretzel's website hosting service told Raven not to worry, yet with 75k visits, the website still crashed for two hours. Fortunately, traffic has remained high since.

In season 4, episode 19, Raven gave an update that sales before Shark Tank were $75k, and sales since Shark Tank are almost $350k. Raven moved out of her kitchen into a commercial kitchen and hired a small team. Mark stayed true to his work and got The Painted Pretzel selling in Landmark Theaters. The Painted Pretzel's success has allowed Raven to have less stress and treasure her family.

Mark Cuban was very helpful and they email weekly. Raven only filmed her pitch for 20 minutes and she was happy with her entire Shark Tank experience. Raven outsourced large orders to a candy company that uses her same recipes.

According to an interview Raven did in 2016 here

, her husband Eric, who she met freshman year of college, played a couple of seasons in the NFL and then arena football. Raven sent an email to Shark Tank on a recommendation from her father-in-law and quickly forgot about it until getting a call randomly a year later.

The Painted Pretzel was in over 6000 stores, including Neiman Marcus, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's, and the demand was so significant Raven had to decline orders.

Many commenters on the Shark Tank Blog post complain of never receiving an order they placed and having unpleasant email exchanges with The Painted Pretzel, ranging from 2014 to 2018.

In 2022, their website, thepaintedpretzel.com

, is dated, and all products say out of stock. It is probably safe to assume that the direct-to-consumer business died around 2018.

Shark Tank Blog says in 2022, The Painted Pretzel does $1 million in annual revenue and focuses on larger clients such as Landmark Theaters (which surprises me if the pretzels survived the last few financially troubling times for theaters).

, in 2022 she is still running The Painted Pretzel as well as being involved in two other companies, The Phoenix Effect Group and Neubloc. I don't know what those are but Neubloc has an average website with a bunch of buzzwords like "start-up" and "internet of things."
