Vinamor Shark Tank Pitch

Gary Dejohn is a waiter who found a better way to aerate wine with his product, Vinamor. Aeration is when wine interacts with air essentially bringing the wine to life and should be done right before drinking.

Vinamor utilized a sphere to pour wine over, which maximizes the contact with the air. Gary compares his product to a current market alternative that takes an hour to complete the aeration process, though Kevin contests that there are several products similar to Vinamor.

Gary gets his glass Vinamors for $20 and sells them for $40, mainly to the patrons he serves while waiting. He has sold about 1000 units and sees potential to sell to chains like Olive Garden, which could also sell to their customers.

Kevin is the only shark with deep knowledge and passion for wine, but he is not sold on the product being a game changer. Even after all the sharks go out, Gary keeps pushing but to no avail.

When I sell for $40 million next year I can come back and laugh at them.

—Gary Dejohn

Vinamor After Shark Tank

a few months after airing. Gary went to a Shark Tank open casting call where he waited in a long line to present Vinamor to staff. After six weeks of no word, Gary was about to give up on Vinamor until receiving a call from the producers.

Gary worked at The Melting Pot in Colorado until the night before his Shark Tank airing. Gary attempted to give 30% equity to a friend who was almost a "Master Sommelier" to join Gary in the business, but it fell through.

Gary was hand assembling and shipping the glass blown pieces but after getting a $50k loan from a friend (that is quite the friend), Gary was able to get Vinamor manufactured in batches of 6000 that get delivered to his house.

Gary misses interacting with guests at the restaurant, however, Gary ships products from home where he can spend more time with his eight-year-old daughter. He also helps out with his father's building relocation service. Yes, they move buildings.

Gary sold Vinamor in The Melting Pot in Fort Collins, Colorado, as a test but found more success in over 100 liquor stores. Gary made a charitable donation of over $1000 to St.Jude by donating a portion of Vinamor sales over a few months.

Gary called his website terrible, and ten years later, in 2022, it probably hasn't been touched since then. It appears you can purchase Vinamors on thevinamor.com

In 2022, Vinamor looks like it never made it out of Gary's house after the first batch of 6000 and never amounted to anything.
