Proof Eyewear Shark Tank Pitch

60-years-ago Taylor Dame, Brooks Dame, and Tanner Dame's grandfather started a wood products manufacturing company in Boise, Idaho, which still is a family-run business. Brooks created a brand of wood-made eyewear called Proof Eyewear and brought his brothers on board to help Proof Eyewear expand.

Proof Eyewear has done $433k in revenue in the last year with $150k profit with estimates of $850k to $900 in revenue this year. Proof Eyewear has the potential of getting a $200k order from Pacific Sunwear, and the Dame brothers want money to build inventory. The brothers want to build a business that lasts like their family business that supports 1700 workers.

You're cool. I've had a lot of cool companies...but the problem is almost all the cool brands are broke.

—Daymond John

Lori had a conflict of interest and removed herself from the deal, Mark and Daymond thought the success wave of the fad would come and go, and Robert and Kevin made offers. Robert seemed genuinely interested in partnering with the brothers and shared similar values, however, they could not agree on a deal.

According to an interview

with Shark Tank Blog, Proof Eyewear typically received a thousand website hits a day but received around two million visitors to their website in the days following Shark Tank night which crashed their website for the first few hours (That is by far the most I've heard an entrepreneur say but we'll take their word for it).

in 2017. Brooks Dame was a serial inventor, and you would find several inventions if you looked in his garage such as wooden ski pools. The Dame brothers went to a buying trade show with low expectations and received 20 wholesale orders for Proof Eyewhere, which was a great success.

Their family business, Woodgrain Millwork, focuses primarily on softwoods. At the same time, their sunglasses are made chiefly from hardwoods, so they work with Chinese manufacturers, whom they have found reliable. They generated around $1 million in revenue the year after Shark Tank.

campaigns. They raised $24k for wooden wallets in 2014, $77k for aluminum sunglasses in 2016, and $78k for stone sunglasses in 2017. Taylor has also worked on side projects and helped friends raise money on Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Taylor's Kickstarter

includes a campaign for a travel neck pillow with extra support that raised $380k and $50k more on Indiegogo in 2017. He also launched a hammock that raised $50k, and a ski goggle brand.

Proof Eyewear continues to see celebrities decide on their own to wear Proof Eyewear, such as Beyoncé. They also invite bands coming through Boise to tour their factory and had Macklemore come by once, and he wore their sunglasses on stage.

Proof Eyewear does many charitable causes firsthand using profits from Proof Eyewear such as providing free cataract surgeries in Uganda. They also do other programs such as building schools and planting trees.
