Erica Cohen and Lori Barbera created Baby's Badass Burgers, a mobile food truck with a pink truck, beautiful burger babes, and the best burgers in LA. Their motto is "come for the burgers, stay for the buns." Lori has a background in events and marketing, and Erica has opened and launched many restaurant concepts.
Baby's Badass Burgers began in 2009 and has developed a cult following since. They want to use the money to open a storefront location and eventually several others, getting out of the food truck business. Erica and Lori are also willing to put $50k or so more of their money in.
In three years Baby's Badass Burgers did $815k in revenue with about a 15% profit margin after paying themselves. The sharks are worried about leaving the truck business they have shown success in to enter the retail space, which is more expensive to run.
The idea that you're escaping what you're doing now and don't want it anymore makes me want to escape it too.
Barbara eloquently interprets Erica and Lori's dreams. All the sharks love the burgers but don't like the brick-and-mortar risk and go out.
