Liz Lovely Cookies Shark Tank Pitch

Dan Holtz and Liz Holtz started a vegan, gluten-free gourmet cookie company called Liz Lovely Cookies. Liz Lovely Cookies' retail store was destroyed three days before they were going to open by tropical storm, Irene.

Liz Lovely Cookies sold almost $1 million of cookies last year with 10% profit margins. They do most of their sales wholesale but also have an e-commerce store, which helped get them through the recession.

I wouldn't eat these unless I had to.

—Kevin O'Leary

The sharks are impressed by Dan's ability to sell, however, they dislike the cookies. Mark is gluten-free and gives Liz and Dan a chance to make one offer that he would say yes or no to. Liz and Dan felt they had made a reasonable offer, but it wasn't enough for Mark, who went out.

Liz Lovely Cookies After Shark Tank

Liz Lovely Cookies began in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania but as a larger manufacturer was required they left what they felt was a rough town to go to Vermont where Dan was inspired by Ben and Jerries and enjoyed the Vermont vibe.

Liz Holtz and Dan Holtz adopted a second child, but in 2014, their 18-year marriage ended. Dan got the house in Warren, Vermont, which had payments he couldn't make, and filed for Bankruptcy in 2015.

Liz Holtz's name returned to Liz Scott and she kept on with Liz Lovely Cookies. Liz had to learn to perform Dan's former roles and rebrand away from the happy family theme.

Cherie Cyr managed Healthy Living Market and Cafe in South Burlington, Vermont, a vendor of Liz Lovely Cookies. Cherie received a letter in 2017 where Liz informed Cherie that no more cookies would be sent for the time being while they found a new factory because the former factory breached their contract by failing to pass quality standards.

The Burlington Free Press knows good journalism and spoke to Bristol Bakery's owner, Kevin Harper, who said that Liz Lovely Cookies used Bristol Bakery to meet the quality standards that Whole Foods demanded and was constantly happy with the cookies produced. Liz never told Kevin that he was in breach of contract. Liz stopped paying Bristol Bakery in 2017, leaving an unpaid balance.

The Burlington Free Press found Liz Scott in South Bend, Indiana. In 2017 Liz filed for bankruptcy with debts of over $600k. Robin Morris was an early investor of Liz Lovely Cookies and saw it rise and fall, simply stating it ran out of money in the end.

Robin is accepting of the fact that the business failed and holds no ill feelings toward Liz. They could not sell the brand value of Liz Lovely Cookies, so they sold off the manufacturing machines. Robin, several banks, and city loans were left unpaid.

Liz Scott and Dan Holtz have each remarried, Dan started a matress company in Essex Junction, Vermont and according to his LinkedIn
