Fohawx Shark Tank Pitch

Jocelyn Fine and Kelly Dineen found that kids think of safety helmets as clunky and boring, resulting in fewer kids wearing helmets. Jocelyn and Kelly created velcro mohawk-like attachments to make wearing helmets cool. Their company is Fohawx.

In their first year, they have done $50k in revenue by selling in 80 specialty toy stores across the U.S. Each unit costs them $5, and they sell them for $19. Jocelyn and Kelly argue that they don't have much competition.

Consider the possibility that you're blinded by your sheer love of making this thing go, which is a wonderful trait, but not when it negates fact that's all around you.

—Barbara Corcoran

The sharks conclude that each store only sells $600 of product a year and will remove Fohawxs because they are not selling. They see Jocelyn and Kelly as determined to prove themselves right. In the exit interview, Kelly admitted that she considered Fohawx her fourth child and has only thought of it as perfect and was shocked and heartbroken to hear the sharks say differently.

in 2013. They had previously known each other by working at the Toys R Us headquarters. When Jocelyn's kid had the idea, she contacted Kelley, and they instantly wrote up a business plan, which they submitted to multiple business plan competitions and won, giving them confidence.

Jocelyn and Kelly were happy with the amount of traffic their website received after the show and considered Shark Tank a great and worthwhile experience. The last Tweet from @fohawx
