Cashmere Hair Shark Tank Pitch

Rachel Bernstein has been modeling for ten years, always has worn hair extensions, and even made her own early in her career. Melissa Barone is a hairstylist and hair, extension expert. Rachel and Melissa joined forces to create their line of premium hair extensions with their brand, Cashmere Hair.

Cashmere Hair has done $38k in sales in its first six months. Rachel and Melissa want to create instructional videos to advertise online. They also intend to do hair parties at hair salons.

The sharks find the product has too much competition, and it is too early to see a clear path to success. Kevin points out the inauthenticity of encouraging girls to mislead people with hair extensions. All sharks go out.

after Shark Tank in 2014. She said they spent nine months researching and testing before producing a finished product overseas. Melissa and Rachel utilized their social media as much as possible and used word of mouth through their beauty clientele and modeling reach. Melissa had long been a fan of Shark Tank, so when she started Cashmere Hair with Rachel, she emailed the show and planned to go to an open casting call a few weeks later. Instead, Melissa got a call the next day from Shark Tank and was able to get started on the next step of the application process.

Despite not getting a deal, Melissa and Rachel benefited from the feedback and fine-tuned their marketing plan and website. Their improved website handled the rush of traffic on Shark Tank night. The girls wanted to build a lasting brand rather than having a single spike in sales. They expanded Cashmere Hair into beauty salons and created new products in the months following Shark Tank. Melissa values customer feedback and always attempts to listen and improve the product and overall customer experience over time. Cashmere Hair had projected sales of $1.5 million for 2014.

Melissa and Rachel had a relationship that complimented each other perfectly. Melissa takes care of product knowledge, manufacturing, and retail processes. Rachel is strong at designing, and she put together the website and handles photo shoots. Rachel and Melissa are not only great friends, but they also married into the same family because their husbands are brothers.
