Erica Barrett's favorite breakfast to have with her husband was strawberry pancakes. When shopping for premium ingredients, Erica was flabbergasted to find the bill's total was $35. Erica created Southern Culture Artisan Foods, a breakfast lifestyle brand (whatever that means), which sells a premium pancake mix.

Southern Culture Artisan Foods did $100k in sales over its first year through selling seasonally in Nordstrom, T.J. Maxx, and Marshall's and 12 whole foods in the region. Erica handles the entire production process in their facility and plans to invest in inventory to meet demand.

The sharks all like the product but find the food space very difficult to succeed in. Kevin makes a similar offer that he gave Wicked Good Cupcakes in season 4, which led to great success. Barbara only makes an offer to give Erica an alternative option. Erica ends up closing a deal with Barbara.

Southern Culture Artisan Foods After Shark Tank

Erica Barrett went on the Black Enterprize in 2020. Erica started a catering company early on, which was successful and led her to start Southern Culture Artisan Foods. Erica said that Barbara wanted to see a deal with Target go through before closing the deal, but a year later, when Erica got into Target, Erica no longer wanted to do the deal, so Barbara and Erica mutually agreed not to do the deal.
Erica went on the show The Profit starring Marcus Lemonis, in 2018, which can be seen on YouTube . Erica was selling pancake mix, bacon rub, and fried chicken seasoning. Erica's husband, Andre, is not very involved in the business but warned Marcus that it is poorly run. Over five years, Southern Culture Artisan Foods broke even and, as of 2018, had $500k in debt.

Marcus pushed Erica to liquidate whatever inventory she could to pay off her debts and clear out the current products. Marcus invested $75k and helped relaunch the brand and create a cohesive southern-inspired product line.

Erica said she didn't close the deal with Marcus after the show aired. Erica has returned her focus to catering in 2020. Erica says she is more scrutinous about where she spends money. Erica launched a real estate company.

In 2019 Erica started the brand SOCO, which stands for Southern Culture. She proceeded to open several restaurants. SOCO has two locations in Alabama, which have around 3 out of 5 stars on Yelp as of 2023. Erica is opening another location in Washington D.C. in 2023. She also opened a pizza place called Dough Boy Pizza.
SOCO's website is socukitchen.com , where Erica sells pancake mix, syrup, and bacon rub as of 2023. She also posted about heavy discounts on the products in late 2022 on the Instagram, @socukitchen and Twitter, @socufoods .
Erica's Instagram is @iamericabarrett , which in my unprofessional opinion, appears as though she bought followers since, as of 2023, it has 390k followers meanwhile, her last post has one comment. Erica occasionally posts on her Facebook. .
