Buzzy Shark Tank Pitch
Dr. Amy Baxter found needle phobia was an issue for injecting shots, so she created Buzzy4Shots (Buzzy). Buzzy is a vibrating massager combined with a cooling temperature that numbs the injection site before delivering the shot.
Buzzy4Shots launched in 2009 and was on target for sales of $1 million this year with a $270k profit and projections of $2.5 million in sales next year. Amy is a full-time doctor and has six moms who work for her part-time. Amy attempted to make Buzzy in China but found it was just as expensive as producing it in the US.
Amy brought up Barbara's deal with Ava The Elephant from the first episode of Shark Tank, which led Barbara to bring up the difficulty that deal entailed. Barbara and Lori go out while Kevin and Robert make an offer, and Mark follows with the same offer. Amy is stuck on her valuation and declines the offers.

Buzzy After Shark Tank
Amy Baxter went on the Inventor's Guide podcast in 2022. Amy was initially teaching doctors about pain and fear of needles. Amy had the idea in 2004 after seeing her son experience a fear of shots. Amy created the company in 2006. In 2009 she got a $1.3 million NIH grant to build Buzzy. She also won a mom entrepreneur contest for $15k. In 2013 she moved production to the US and went on Shark Tank.

Amy did an interview with DaVinci Academy in 2022 on YouTube . Amy said one of the goals of going on Shark Tank was to bring awareness to her product for the good of society. She also did want to mark her price up or use other tricky ways to get more money from people, such as selling subscriptions to single-use accessories like she often saw in the medical product space. Amy said she managed to keep the company profitable, which decreased her reliance on outside funding to keep the business going.

According to paincarelabs.com Buzzy has sold over 300k units and has been used in over 5k health clinics as of 2023. In 2021 Amy launched a similar product for general pain relief for different body parts called VibraCool.
