Henry's Humdingers Shark Tank Pitch
When Henry Miller was 11, he sat next to a beekeeper on a plane who taught henry about colony collapse disorder, a disease that infects a hive and hurts the bee population. Henry asked for a beehive for Christmas, and with more sweet honey than he knew what to do with. Henry didn't just want to sell another normal honey, so he started selling honey with spices and flavors mixed in under his brand Henry's Humdingers.
Henry is 16 and lives on a farm. His mom helps Henry with the business while Henry is at school. Henry's family has put $150k into the business. Henry's Humdingers are sold in 300 stores across 34 states. Over the first three years of being in business, revenue is $67k, with $50k coming in the last year.
Three sharks go out. Robert is friends with one of the largest honey producers in Canada but is on the edge until Mark suggests working together with Robert. Mark said he's never made an offer for a majority share but, in this case, sees it as necessary to move quickly and wants 60%. Robert thinks 75% is more aligned with the risk of starting a new category. $150k of the money goes straight back to repaying Henry's parents. Henry accepts.

Henry's Humdingers After Shark Tank
Henry Miller went on the Smart Hustle Small Business Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/henry-miller-henrys-humdingers-shares-his-story/id1530568754?i=1000490073498 in 2018. Henry was 20 years old at the time. The production relied on Henry, who was often at school, so they outsourced the production to a copacker. Henry's parents largely helped with the business, such as his dad making the logos for the packages. His parents had experience with advertising. They were very lost and found many people in the business world were out for money more than helping them and attempted to take advantage of them.Link Preview

I wanted to post and let you know that I have closed Henry's Humdingers as we haven't made any profit in some time. Of course, the products are amazing, but business is hard and there are many unforeseen costs. As many of you know, my deal did not close for various reasons. Despite that I am very, very grateful to ABC and Shark Tank as everyone involved was amazing. Mark even became one of my college references.
We did make it five years but we have now lost our family farm. That being said - we will survive to go on to other things. My parents have moved closer to town and my mom is recovering from cancer and teaching again. I'm a senior at WSU and will graduate in the Spring. And my dad is pursuing his first love - art. I know that this has been a very difficult time for my family and I've struggled with the fact that I was unable to succeed, but as corny as it sounds - we have each other and I was able to raise awareness for the bees.
Thank you to all who have supported me along the way. I can't tell you how much it's meant.
Who knows what the future will bring - maybe I'll apply to Survivor?

A few months later they started a GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/f/henry039s-humdingers-family-house-fire?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fb_u_g due to their house burning down and the loss of most of their belongings and several pets. Henry's parents, Tom and Denise, suffered burns in the process. They raised $52k to help them recover. A few months later, they gave an update that they struggled to find a long-term home due to banks unwilling to provide them with a loan. They moved living situations ten times for various reasons.
