Crio Shark Tank Pitch
Jon Fatheringham and Eric Durtschi created a drink that combines America's love of chocolate and coffee into one drink called Crio. Eric says Crio provides a longer and more tame energy boost than coffee alone.
Crio is on track to do $1.5 million in sales this year with a $150k profit by selling through over 1k stores. Eric says their process of creating the drink is proprietary and patent pending. Eric promises that Crio will do a minimum of $10 million in sales next year.
Many sharks find the taste of Crio odd and unsavory, though some see a market for the unique taste. Three sharks go out before hearing the sales numbers, and the rest find the valuation out of line with sales and follow suit. Kevin says the Mayans were drinking this stuff, and they're no longer here.

Crio After Shark Tank
In 2012 Crio Bru failed to reach their $35k goal on a Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/criobru/cocoa-espresso-from-crio campaign, raising only $6k. Eric Durtschi had the idea in 2007. In 2010 Eric was running in Zions National Park when he met Jon Fotheringham, who had the marketing and management experience Eric felt would be perfect for getting Crio off the ground. Eric Durtschi did an interview on YouTube https://youtu.be/HqHik2LEnX0 in 2021 with the California Rare Fruit Growers. Eric provides a summed-up history of cocoa. Eric grew up on a farm in Tenessee, where he developed a passion for gardening berries and fruits. Eric has set up farms that produce certain varieties of Cacao and considers himself to have tasted more varieties of cocoa than almost anyone in the world.
