Elephant Chat Shark Tank Pitch

Amanda Adams and Jason Adams met one year ago on a blind date and got married within six weeks. They each previously had kids and together have a baby, Koa, on the way. Amanda and Jason created Elephant Chat to make discussing difficult things easier. Elephant Chat is a plush stuffed elephant that someone can make visible to indicate that he/she has something important to discuss or, as people say, "the elephant in the room."

If you're really married, you know the rules: There's one person who's right, and the other person is the husband.

—Daymond John

Amanda and Jason raised $100k from friends to put into Elephant Chat. Kevin says They won't be friends for long. Most sharks sum up Elephant Chat as a $1 plush doll being sold for $59 and predict consumers will not purchase and be let down if they do. Mark believes the concept has some merit but, even so, joins the other sharks in going out.

Elephant Chat After Shark Tank

Jason Adams was once a cowboy in Texas and in 2013 did an interview on YouTube , where he talks about the startup center he put together in Dallas called Curious Complex and the beginnings of Elephant Chat with Amanda.
According to bizjournals.com , Jason planned to launch a Kickstarter campaign during the show's airing. However, it seems as though a Kickstarter campaign for Elephant Chat ran in April 2013 (six months before airing), which raised $4k, which did not meet the $13k goal. The last post from the Instagram, @elephantchat , came on Shark Tank air day showing, presumably Jason and Amanda watching the show together.
According to Shark Tank Blog , Jason Adams saw Amanda Adams getting texts on her phone from somebody else late at night, and Amanda seemed to be spending more time away from the house. A year and a half after Jason and Amanda married, they divorced.
Jason started an IndieGoGo campaign in 2014 to pay for legal fees directed to receiving more allowed time by the court to spend with their kid Koa, with whom Amanda received most of the time, and strictly enforced Jason's allowed time, according to Jason. The campaign raised $762 of Jason's $5k goal.
There was a website and a Twitter, @standupforkoa , which Jason communicated on periodically. All the websites and messages about this Stand Up For Koa movement seem to have fizzled out in 2014, and as of 2022, it is difficult to figure out whatever happened with Koa, James, or Amanda. And, of course, Amanda didn't continue going by Amanda Adams, which makes it more difficult to search for updates.
According to Jason Adams' LinkedIn , as of 2022, he lists himself as an investor in several projects as well as the founder of The Athlete Group in Dallas, Texas.
